EXODUS 32:1-19
Sometimes we as God’s own people make the mistake of sharing
God’s glory with other handmade image. This is the major act that provokes
God’s anger towards His people. It is natural to notice that men believes on
what they can see, feel and touch, without knowing that those things you can feel and touch are made
from the one you cannot see, feel and
touch. Because God is invisible being to the children of Israel, they tend to
see Moses as an Oracle, attributing glory to Him rather than the maker. Now
Moses went away to answer God on the mountain. They now felt that the Oracle
has gone away, they don’t have any other alternative than to appoint an Oracle that
will replace Moses as well as give those answers to prayers of needs and
security. And they appointed Aaron, Who built a god for them as a Golden Calf, God himself was not happy for this act.
EXODUS 32:9
(9) “Jehovah went on to say
to Moses “I have seen
That this is an
obstinate people
(10) So now let me be, and I
will exterminate them
in my burning anger and let me
make a nation,
from you instead”
You can see that just as God is a merciful God, He is also a
consuming fire when you provoke Him. You can do everything to God but make sure
you don’t trigger His jealousy. His jealousy goes with burning anger. It was
the same Moses that interceded on behalf of his people.
EXODUS 9:11
(11) “Then Moses appealed to Jehovah his God and
said
“why O Jehovah, should you turn
burning anger
Against your people after bringing
them out
Of the land of Egypt with great
power and with
A mighty hand?”
Imagine God listening to advice from Moses to turn around
His anger. In a nutshell, God became patient towards the children of Israel
because of Moses. What a meek man? A man with a teachable spiri t.
EXODUS 32:19
(17) “ As soon as Moses got near the camp and
saw the calf
and dances his
anger began to blaze and
he threw the
tablet from his hands and shattered
them at the foot of
the mountain”
From this point, we can see that anger is a nature of God.
And that is why God permits us to be angry but we should not let our anger
destroy valuable things for us and others.
Anger is God’s solid working material, and because He
created us in His image and after his likeness. He does not see it as a mistake
but as a nature that can be controlled. Just as Moses advised God and God
controlled his anger, so that it does not destroy things for us. Even Moses that advised God became a
victim of anger later. He allowed the anger to push him to the point of
destroying the tablets of commandment God gave Him for the children of Israel. As
This Year Progresses, I curse every root of anger that will destroy things for
you in Jesus name. Amen.
