GENESIS 16:1-16

Sometimes in life people make the mistake of attributing respect to a servant than his master because of change of circumstance or situation, forgetting that the Master is the next God after his parents and Almighty God. I knew some Master that was previously doing well and had many servants but today they are poor and wretched while those of their servants then are better off, it has happened to my own father and a sort of experience to share if time permits. But don’t worry that is not the end of the world for them. God knows about that situation or may be God wants to make a correction to the person’s life, so that his life can be prolonged. There are some lessons you can only learn in hardship, which will increase your experience in life as well as qualifies you for an aspiring position. This is why a master can curse and it comes to pass because there is a spiritual authority that exists in the relationship anywhere. And this is why a servant can never be greater to his master. Even Jesus said it:

JOHN 13:16

(16)     “Most truly I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master,

            Nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent them”

Before someone accept your responsibility as a master, there must have been a mutual documented agreement between both of you written and signed by the servant or Guardian of the servant with witnesses signature as well as the Master’s approval signature for future reference or seek for court approval, whereby such evidence does not exist in present dispensation, the Master-servant relationship is not  backed up by law and, anything can happen whereby one party denial that he does not know who you are. It has happened severally, especially in trading industry: A lot of young people that has engaged their talents will fully serving their masters for years. Some of them7 years while others 13years, at the end of the day no settlement or help to assist them to start up their own trades. This is very bad, and this is why government should look in to such practices and make a good correction for better tomorrow of our young less privileged. And from the very day the agreement is concluded the servant is under the obligations stipulated in writing towards his master as a servant. Some servants receive immediate payment for their service while others receive their payment at the end of the years of service depending on the nature of the agreement.

We have the Public servant as well known as civil servants, who are under civil Service Commission, a body established by Law to govern and control the affairs of public servants and they are under government authority.

ROMAN 13:1

(1)               “Let every person be in subjection to the superior authorities

For there is no authority except by God: the existing authorities

Stand placed in their relative positions by God.

(2)               Therefore, whoever opposes the authority has taken a

stand against the arrangement of God; those who have taken

a stand against it will bring Judgment against themselves

(3)               For those rulers are object of fear, not to the good deed, but

To the bad. Do you want to be free of fear of the authority?

Keep doing good, and you will have praise from him”

And non citizens of a nation are above the law or constitution of that nation set down to govern the nation. Any misappropriation or neglect to their duty is highly punished by Law of the nation. This will bring us to today’s topic using SARAI and her servant HAGAR as a case study on Master –Servant or mistress – Servant relationship.

GENESIS 16:8

(8)       “At this Sarai said to Abram “The injury done to me

            Is your fault. I was the one who put my servant in

your arms, but when she realized that she was

pregnant; she began to despise me, may Jehovah

Judge between me and you

(9)       So Abram said to Sarai look! Your servant is under

            Your authority. Do to her whatever you think is best.

            Then Sarai humiliated her, and she ran away”

This is to tell you that a master or mistress has power over their entire servant both spiritual and Physical. To further prove this fact, God did not support Hagar, and God cannot support disobedient to your authority.

GENESIS 16:9

(9)       “Jehovah’s angel then said to her: “Return to your Mistress

            And humble yourself under her hand”

The humility alone under your Master or Mistress will open tremendous door to your life and destiny. The angel of God added a blessing to his life, as she obeys God’s instruction.

GENESIS 16:10

(10)     “Then Jehovah’s angel said: I will greatly multiply

            Your offspring, so that they will be numerous to

            Count”

God is a God of Justice and order. In the same way Masters should be careful the way they treat their servants, because they have once served others. They should be careful to ignore side talk that will engender hatreds towards their subjects.

PROVERB 30:10

(10)     “Do not slander a servant to his master or he may curse

            You and you will be found guilty”

The point here is that some masters are good in treating their servants based on the information they get from outside their Jurisdiction but that is wrong because sometimes the information are not accurate or up to date. Some of those gossipers are just busy body persons that want to get money to feed. And will like to frame stories to belong to your class. Before you know it you have gainfully engaged yourself in nonsense which you are not supposed to participate by your statues and connection in the society. And as well lowering your standard to low mental and degraded personalities, please always learn to discuss business and leave people’s affairs behind for them to sort it out.
