Idolatry is an act of making or preferring something like habits, inanimate objects, materialism, wealth, fashion, food etc. as priorities to Most High God. God expects you to put him ahead of all these things. Therefore making these things your first choice is an act of idolatry.

 MATHEW 6:33

(33)     “Keep on, seeking the kingdom and his righteousness,

            And all these other things will be added to you.

This is why Prophet Samuel told soul that stubbornness is like a sin of idolatry. You want to do things your flesh wants which are contrary to the spirit of God. Any one walking in flesh is the one walking by sight and can never please God rather he pleases men. But the one walking by faith is the one that can please God because God is a spirit and those that must please him will do that in spirit and in truth.

I SAMUEL 15:22

(22)     “Samuel then said “Does Jehovah takes as much

Pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices

as  in obeying the voice of Jehovah? look! To obey

is better than sacrifice, and to pay attention

than the fat of Ram”

(23)     For rebelliousness is the same as sin of divination,

            Pushing ahead presumptuously (stubbornness)

            Is the same as using magical powers and idolatry”

In a nutshell not putting God as your priority through his Son Jesus Christ makes you a stubborn man or woman which is idolatry practices. This is to show you that pride and arrogance are the highest idolatry to a man’s life. So today, God is out to deal with every form of idolatry practices that has hindered your destiny for years.

ISAIAH 44:10

(10)     “Who would form a god or cast a metal image

            That can bring no benefit?

(11)     Look! All his associates will be put to shame!

            The craft men are mere humans

            Let them all assemble and take their stand

            They will be terrified and be put to shame

            together”

Do you want to be free from disgrace? Shun every form of Idolatry ranging from images to habits. Lets God’s standard be established in your heart:

ROMANS 8:1

(1)               “Therefore, those in union with Christ Jesus have

no condemnation

for the law of the spirit that gives life in union

with Christ Jesus has set you free from the

law of sin and death

VERSE 5-6

(5)       “For those who live according to the flesh

            Set the minds on things of the flesh,

            But those who live according to spirit, on

            The things of the spirit

(6)       For setting the mind on the flesh means death

But setting the mind on the spirit means

life and peace”

Idolatry is in the heart, this is its origin. Idolatry does not end in carved images, it started from the mind that carved those images and worship them. So we can curb Idolatry by filling our thought with word of God. Remained blessed:
