THE OPPOSING PHILISTINES

GENESIS 26:9-16

From the onset the Philistines has proved to be stubborn to the people of Israel. Isaac became a victim when God decided to bless him. Remember that God did not bless Isaac in His own land, but God bless him in a foreign land which is the land of philistine’s. As a result, the Philistine became jealous and started envying His progress.
Genesis 26:12

(12)     “And Isaac began to sow seed in that land, and in that year he reaped
100 times what he sowed, for Jehovah was blessing him.
(13)     The man became wealthy and continued to prosper until
            He became very wealthy
(14)     He acquire flocks of sheep and herds of cattle and a large
Body of servants and the philistines began to envy him”

The philistines had been an embodiment of obstacle to the people of Israel from the beginning, even till the days of David who confronted Goliath as an uncircumcised philistine and killed him in the name of God Almighty. Today also we have philistines around us as children of God. But one thing is sure, and that is we can never overcome and defeat them by strength or might but by the direction of the Holy Ghost. You know the philistines by their acts: they are destructive in nature.
Genesis 26:15

(15)     “So the philistines took soil and stopped up all wells
That his father’s servants had dug in the days of Abraham”

As an eagle Christian today, you need to give these people long spoon. The philistines can still be church goers. They are not limited to idol worshippers. They are enemies of progress. You can never be successful as their friends, concubine, relation and business colleagues without them envying you.

(16)     “Abimelech then said to Isaac “move from our neighborhood
For you have grown stronger than we are”
(17)     So Isaac move from there and encamped in the valley of Gerrar
            And began dwelling there”

Look! To be successful with God, you need to give up and let go some certain possession that is being disputed against you. Isaac gave up His source of income that his own father opened for him to His enemies and follows another direction to prosperity. Also in the past we have sacrificed something that are our legal right to others for the interest of peace with God and better tomorrow. Don’t you ever struggle with the philistines, Learn to decamp from their land (in their midst) and territory. Then live for a better tomorrow.
