INDISCIPLINE EFFECT

I SAMUEL 8:1-22

Sometime we parents suffer the effect of our irresponsibility towards our children. We may have leaved a glorious and excellent life without imparting in our children who will be our mirror to the next generation when we hand over baton of destiny. This is like “Sowing a good seed that produces weeds and wild fruits as harvest”.

 Coming to the case of Samuel, the people expected their children to be like their father but the children of a good prophet like Samuel were collecting Bribes and perverting Justice. What’s a dishonest act for a presiding Judge? Israel has to react to the offense.
I SAMUEL 8:5

(5)       “They said to him, look you have grown old but your sons
            are not walking in your ways. Now appoint for us a King
            to Judge us like all the other nations”

Look, you are a disciplined and well behaved Pastor and Prophet. But your children are behaving like Devil; you are to be held responsible for that behavior because you neglected taking disciplinary measure to curb those habits at the early stage.

Proverb 22:6

(6)       “Train a boy in the way he should go;
 even when he grows old he will not
depart from it”

The Class, Level and Distinction of your children in the society are determined by the height of disciplinary measure given to them at the tender stage. Your children are the product of your control and correction. When a child is not corrected, he behaves like a bastard and a fool. When you see a bastard moving on the road, you need not somebody to tell you that this one is a Hooligan. His /her dressing alone will announce who he/she is before one opens up his/her smelling mouth that portrays his/her character and attitude: Eating on the road and begging for alms even when it is not necessary. Let us learn to train our children the right way, so that they can fit in to society of future generation.
