DISCRIMINATION

JAMES 2:1-26

Racial discrimination is an acronym that qualifies intimidation, humiliation, condemnation and control. Have you been discriminated in the past or present by friends and relations? May be as a result of Injustice? That is the highest humiliation one can experience on planet earth.

During the British colonization in Nigeria, which is before 1960 independent, Nigerians faced terrible humiliation and intimidation of racial discrimination in their own country. Those that experienced it could tell you the bitter part of the act: it is a system that subjects the victims to inferiority complex and social distress. When you are treated as cowards and non entity in the society, segregated and restricted movement in certain places that is deemed the classical areas for the first class citizens in the Country, Who were the first Class Citizens in Nigeria? British Citizens, during their regime, who dare you to move around Government Reserved Area (GRA) without legal permission. Nigerian Citizens were dealt with Arms and Ammunition as a sanction to compel obedient to their citizens. This was one of the acts that instigated the Aba women riot of 1923. Nigeria became free from racial discrimination on the  1st October 1960 and till date we do not pray for such experience and should endeavor to fight discrimination in the society starting from home, churches, schools, political parties and social group. Let us consider today’s scripture on

JAMES 2:1-4

“My brothers, you are not holding to the faith of
Our glorious Lord Jesus Christ while showing favoritism,
Are you? For if a man with gold rings on his fingers
And in splendid clothing come into your Meeting; but a
Poor man in filthy clothing also enters
Do you look with favour on the one wearing the splendid
Clothing and say “you take this seat here in a fine place”
And do you say to the poor one “you keep standing” or “Take
That seat there under my footstool. If So, do you not
have class distinctions among yourselves, and
have you not become judges rendering wicked decision?

Our main focus here is the church, the racial discrimination has left Nigeria and enters our churches where we applaud and appreciate people that pay big tithe and give Fat Offerings more than others. In fact, these groups have their special seats in front before the pastor’s pulpit. The poor has no say any more in the house of God, some rich members sometimes uses police to threaten the poor ones at the permission of the pastor but forgetting that they are not called to serve pastor but God who will bring every wickedness to judgment beware and be warned, salvation is given to you for free please extend it to others rather than condemn them. Remember the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand
