ISAIAH 52:1-END
ISAIAH 23:1-END
SONGS OF SOLOMON 5:1-END
When you are destined for kingdom exploit;
your decisions and aspirations must not be ordinary because at the end of the
day; God’s plan and purpose for your existence must surely prevail. Using Jonah
as a case study to this issue, God had destined Jonah to travel to Nineveh to
preach the good news of His kingdom, so that they can repent and turn away from
their wicked ways but Jonah made his own decision and chose to travel to Tar
shish. God caused confusion and return Jonah to a point he can travel back to Nineveh
which he sent him. And that is the centre point of today’s message. You can’t
run away from God’s divine instruction; irrespective of your status and
position in the society. Today God is calling someone in love to save His
people as he called Jonah:
JONAH 1:1-12
(1) “Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah
the son
of
Amittai, saying,
(2) Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and
cry against it;
for
their wickedness is come up before me.
(3) But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish
from the
presence
of the LORD, and went down to Joppa;
and
he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid
the
fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with
them
unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.
(4) But the LORD sent out a great wind into the
sea,
and
there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that
the
ship was like to be broken.
(5) Then the mariners were afraid, and cried
every man
unto
his god, and cast forth the wares that were in
the
ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah
was
gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay,
and
was fast asleep.
(6) So the shipmaster came to him, and said
unto him,
What
meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy
God,
if so be that God will think upon us, that we
perish
not.
(7) And they said every one to his fellow,
Come, and
let
us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause
this
evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot
fell
upon Jonah.
(8) Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray
thee,
for
whose cause this evil is upon us; What is
thine
occupation? and whence comest thou?
what
is thy country? and of what people art thou?
(9) And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and
I
fear
the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath
made
the sea and the dry land.
(10) Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and
said
unto him. Why hast thou done this? For the
men
knew that t he fled from the presence of the
LORD,
because he had told them.
(11) Then said they unto him, What shall we do
unto
thee,
that the sea may be calm unto us? for the
sea
wrought, and was tempestuous.
(12) And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast
me
forth
into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto
you:
for I know that for my sake this great
tempest
is upon you.”
Even Jonah himself was aware that he
was responsible for their calamity. Today, are you responsible for calamity of
those you join their ship to a strange land where God did not send you? If you
are responsible, kindly present yourself for prosecution; so that you don’t
destroy others and perish with them:
JONAH 1:15-17
(15) “So they look up Jonah, and cast him forth
into
the
sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.
(16) Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and
offered
a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.
(17) Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to
swallow
up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of
the
fish three days and three nights.”
A big fish swallowed Jonah and went to vomit
Him on a safe land where he can take off to where God had sent him to preach
the good news. Look! Whenever you disobey divine instruction there is always a
big fish waiting to swallow you and until you repent as Jonah did, the big fish
may not vomit you. And God had programmed the big fish which may be a wicked
man where to vomit you or release you when you repent. And when you repent as
Jonah did; the big fish will position you to a safe place to reach your divine
assignment and destiny. So every big fish or a wicked man like King of Babylon
is God’s servant to accomplish a divine assignment:
JONAH 2:1-10
(1) “Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God
out of
the
fish's belly,
(2) And said, I cried by reason of mine
affliction unto
the
LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly
of
hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
(3) For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in
the midst
of
the seas; and the floods compassed me
about:
all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
(4) Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight;
yet I will look
again
toward thy holy temple.
(5) The waters compassed me about, even to the
soul:
the
depth closed me round about, the weeds were
wrapped
about my head.
(6) I went down to the bottoms of the
mountains; the
earth
with her bars was about me for ever:
yet
hast thou brought up my life from corruption,
O
LORD my God.
(7) When my soul fainted within me I remembered
the
LORD:
and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine
holy
temple.
(8) They that observe lying vanities forsake
their own mercy.
(9) But I will sacrifice unto thee with the
voice of thanksgiving;
I
will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.
(10) And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it
vomited out Jonah
upon
the dry land”.
After this serious torture, Jonah had to obey
God’s instruction and went to Nineveh to preach the good news. And because of
Jonah’s good news, the men of Nineveh repented, even beast and animals turned
to God.
JONAH 3:5-10
(5) So the people of Nineveh believed God, and
proclaimed a
fast,
and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even
to
the least of them.
(6) For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and
he arose
from
his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and
covered
him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
(7) And he caused it to be proclaimed and
published
through
Nineveh by the decree of the king and his
nobles,
saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock,
taste
any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:
(8) But let man and beast be covered with
sackcloth,
and
cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn
everyone
from his evil way, and from the violence
that
is in their hands.
(9) Who can tell if God will turn and repent,
and turn
away
from his fierce anger, that we perish not?
(10) And God saw their works, that they turned
from
their
evil way; and God repented of the evil,
that
he had said that he would do unto them; and
he
did it not.”
So today, just like Jonah, God is
about to stop someone that is about to join a ship to tar shish and this he
will achieve with the help of King of Babylon:
ISAIAH 23:13-14
(13) “Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this
people was not,
till the Assyrian founded it for them that
dwell in the
wilderness:
they set up the towers thereof, they raised
up
the palaces thereof; and he brought it to ruin.
(14) Howl, ye shipsof Tarshish: for your strength
is laid
waste.”
Though Assyrians were blamed for punishing God’s
people when they went down to Egypt; but God said that now they are not
responsible for what is happening but Babylonians are the one causing the
trouble
ISAIAH 52:1-8
(1) Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion;
put on
thy
beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city:
for
henceforth there shall no more come into thee
the
uncircumcised and the unclean.
(2) Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit
down, O
Jerusalem:
loose thyself from the bands of thy neck,
O
captive daughter of Zion.
(3) For thus saith the LORD, Ye have sold
yourselves
for
nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money.
(4) For thus saith the Lord GOD, My people went
down
aforetime
into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian
oppressed
them without cause.
(5) Now therefore, what have I here, saith the
LORD, that
my
people is taken away for nought? they that rule over
them
make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my
name
continually every day is blasphemed.
(6) Therefore my people shall know my name:
therefore
they
shall know in that day that I am he that doth
speak:
behold, it is I.
(7) How beautiful upon the mountains are the
feet of him
that
bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace;
that
bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth
salvation;
that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
(8) Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with
the
voice
together shall they sing: for they shall see
eye
to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion.”
So
today God is set to commission His people to search for the lost sheep. His
loved ones perishing in the world of Iniquity:
SONGS
OF SOLOMON 5:6-16
(6) “I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had
withdrawn
himself,
and was gone: my soul failed when he spake:
I
sought him, but I could not find him; I called him,
but
he gave me no answer.
(7) The watchmen that went about the city found
me,
they
smote me, they wounded me; the keepers of the
walls
took away my veil from me.
(8) I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if
ye find
my
beloved, that ye tell him, that I am sick of love.
(9) What is thy beloved more than another
beloved,
O
thou fairest among women? what is thy beloved
more
than another beloved, that thou dost so
charge
us?
(10) My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest
among
ten
thousand.
(11) His head is as the most fine gold, his locks
are
bushy,
and black as a raven.
(12) His eyes are as the eyes of doves by the
rivers of waters,
washed
with milk, and fitly set.
(13) His cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet
flowers:
his
lips like lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh.
(14) His hands are as gold rings set
with the beryl:
his
belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires.
(15) His legs are as pillars of marble, setupon
sockets
of
fine gold: his countenance is as Lebanon, excellent
as
the cedars.
(16) His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is
altogether lovely.
This
is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters
of
Jerusalem.”
As you propagate the truth of the gospel
to the perishing souls today; Your life will never be the same again. I see a
big fish that swallowed someone, his resources and talents for years vomiting that
person on a safe land and position where he can take off to his divine
designated destination and accomplish God’s purpose for His life. Remain
blessed.
